I spent an afternoon observing the media pathway filming another student's musical performance. As well as the musician, there was a floor manager, and three people controlling cameras downstairs. Everyone else was upstairs, there was someone on sound recording and another controlling which camera shot would be used in the main video, and fading from one shot to another. The tutor was directing the filming, by giving orders and communicating to students through a microphone and headsets.
