FABRIC, BLEACH AND DYE TESTING

We were shown simple dyeing techniques in textiles, using mixed, protein power dyes. Our tutor also showed us different 'resist' techniques such as batik or using crayons directly on the fabric.

I experimented with a dark navy dye, to follow up my research on military uniforms. I liked the samples on the muslin fabric, as the samples could be layered up. I thought the bleach marks were interesting but decided to take forward the design without them. I will, however, try further testing using the bleach to mark out some of the slogans I have found through research into ongoing protest.
